Religion -a concept or constraint

Which religion do you follow? The moment I ask this question, why does that ‘soft corner’ develop in your heart if the person belongs to the same religion as you?
Genuinely, if this doesn’t happen, you are a secular person.
I think that long ago religion, both as a concept and constraint, was established by a very intelligent person. That person was only intelligent enough to think that he cannot monitor everybody in the society and he was not somebody whom the society would ‘adhere to’.
So, he made religion. So that he can make the society function properly and give them guidelines and sort of a constitution to classify everything as good or bad. Not only this, that person knew that without a database he won’t be able to prove all this. So, he formulated a database in the form of a religious book.
Now, a set of people enjoyed the concept of an organised society through religion. And hence, they agreed to follow it.
Then how is there such a big database about any religion, especially Hinduism.
This I presume was contributed in two ways – one was that as time passed people wanted to shape the religion to their convenience and thus many gods and goddesses were brought into existence with the help of stories.
Second and the more prominent reason was that when nature was discovered and science came to existence, the religious sect thought that it would just lead to the demolition of the whole well established system, so they floated some more database to support the natural events and co-incidents.
When I was thinking about this, I also went on to think that why were so many religious roots rested in the Himalayas; was it because they were somehow sacred or is it that in the ancient times, Himalayas were inaccessible to most people and thus, any sort of inquiry was impossible.
Why are so many religions then? They were basically because there were many intelligent minds which had their own set of ideas which they wanted to be treated as ideal. Moreover, people used to migrate in the ancient times as well, so they got influenced with the religious beliefs of other regions.
While having written this, am I giving you an idea of me being an atheist? I am not. And I strongly respect the concept of religion. It helps a society to function properly. Also, it is linked to a lot of spiritual stuff, which helps people channelize their energy. I also think that some of the constraints are reasonable and thus acceptable. But, most constraints are not. As they have today become the ones’ holding back our society. Today, they have become so very lethal that they are a threat to a section of society for which religion was meant.
So why were these constraints made in the religion? The answer lies in the very origin. As it was a person who created religion, along with his thoughts for the society came his insecurities.
People always had insecurities. May they be regarding their women, or killing of cows (which were then considered a prime source of milk). Very interestingly, here with a reference to my previous article, insecurity may also be due to their fear of losing their identity.
It is these insecurities which developed overtime and transformed into customs. And it is these customs which are now threatening the society.
So, how would it be to just filter all these ill constraints aka customs based largely on the insecurity of people.
Or did I just say that all religions without such customs teach us exactly the same…
